The unit for combating violence against women and children was established by a decision of the Council of Ministers in November 2005. Then on the first of November 2005, it followed its decision No. 537 establishing a unit for combating violence against women and children in the structure of the Ministry of Justice, which is a coordination mechanism between state agencies to combat violence against women and children.
